Coverage depends on the key system and chassis, not the model year alone. Most models listed here use the FBS3 infrared key. Newer Mercedes-Benz models with the FBS4 key system are not covered. Not sure which one you have? Call 773-521-7000 with your VIN and we’ll check.

Mercedes-Benz Key Replacement, Programming and Cutting

We make and program keys for Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLK, CLS, ML, GL, GLK, SL, SLK, G-Class and Sprinter vans, plus emergency blade cutting and no-start diagnostics. Before we replace anything, we check whether the problem is really the key or something else like the battery, steering lock or a module.

Spare Mercedes Key

Have one working key? We program an extra key so you're never stuck with only one.

All Keys Lost

Lost every key? We can make a new one for covered models without towing to the dealer. Photo ID and proof of ownership required.

Smart Keys and Keyless Start

Key unlocks the doors but won't start the car? We test the key and the car's start system before recommending a new key.

Steering Lock and No-Start

A no-start can come from the battery, antennas, steering lock or a module. We find the real cause before replacing anything.

Mercedes-Benz Key Replacement FAQs

How much does a Mercedes-Benz key cost?

It depends on the model, year, key type and whether you still have a working key. Call 773-521-7000 with your VIN and we’ll give you a quote before we schedule anything.

Can you replace my Mercedes-Benz key if all keys are lost?

Yes, for the models and years listed above. Call with the VIN and key situation before arranging a tow. Photo identification and proof of ownership or authorization are required.

Do you work on newer Mercedes-Benz models?

It depends on the key system and chassis, not just the year. Most of the cars we cover use the FBS3 infrared key, found on many models through about 2014 and on Sprinter W906 vans through 2018. Newer models with the FBS4 key system are not covered. Call with your VIN and we’ll tell you right away.

Can you come to me?

Yes. We’re mobile 24/7 across Chicago and nearby Cook County suburbs. You can also bring the car to our shop at 4346 W 51st St — call first.

Can you program a used Mercedes-Benz key?

Not always. Used Mercedes keys are often locked to their original car. Call us before buying one and we’ll tell you whether it can work.

Is every no-start problem caused by the key?

No. Battery voltage, antennas, steering locks, ignition authorization, wiring, and control modules can cause similar symptoms. We diagnose first so you don’t pay for a key you don’t need.
