Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram Key Services

Depending on the vehicle, service can include all-keys-lost replacement, spare keys, key cutting, transponder and smart-key programming, fob replacement, ignition diagnostics, and module programming. Common Jeep requests include the Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Wrangler, Gladiator, Compass, Renegade, Liberty, and Patriot. Dodge requests include the Charger, Challenger, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, and Dart. Chrysler requests include the 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, and 200. Ram requests include the 1500, 2500, 3500, and ProMaster.

These brands share many key systems, but keys that look the same can use different chips and frequencies. We confirm the correct key for your exact vehicle before cutting or programming.

Transponder Keys, Fobik Keys and Smart Keys

Older models use a metal transponder key or a remote-head key. Many Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep models use a fobik, a fob that plugs into the dash instead of a traditional key. Newer models with push-button start use a proximity smart key. Each type is programmed differently.

Programming on these vehicles usually requires a security PIN linked to the VIN, which we obtain after verifying ownership. Many newer models also have a security gateway that must be unlocked with authorized access before keys can be added. See Transponder Key Programming, Smart Key Programming, and Key Fob Programming.

Replaced Computer or Module? VIN Programming

When an engine computer, body module, or immobilizer module is replaced on a Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, or Ram, the vehicle may not start until the new module is programmed with the VIN and the keys are relearned. Repair shops and owners often call us after installing a used or new module.

See PCM & ECM Reprogramming, BCM Programming, and Immobilizer Repair. Tell us which module was replaced and where it came from when you call.

Lost All Your Keys?

When no working key remains, replacement may require the VIN, a key code, the security PIN, cutting, and programming the new key to the vehicle. If one key still works, adding a tested spare now is usually simpler than an all-keys-lost call later.

See Lost Car Key Replacement for the full process, VIN Key Cutting for keys cut from your vehicle’s code, and Ignition Repair if the key won’t turn.

What to Have Ready

Have a government-issued photo ID and proof of ownership, such as the registration, title, or insurance card. Tell us the year, model, VIN, ignition type (key, fobik, or push-to-start), your location, and how many working keys you have. If your documents are locked inside the vehicle, let us know when you call.

Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram Key FAQs

Can you make a Jeep key if I lost all my keys?

Yes, for many compatible vehicles. After we verify ownership, we can cut a new key and program it to the vehicle. Procedures vary by model and year.

What is a fobik key?

A fobik is a remote fob that plugs into a slot in the dash instead of using a traditional key blade. It’s common on many Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep models, and it has to be programmed to the vehicle to start it.

My Dodge won't start after a computer was replaced. Can you help?

Often, yes. A replaced engine computer or body module usually needs VIN programming and a key relearn before the vehicle will start. We confirm the module and procedure before service.

How much does Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler or Ram key replacement cost?

It depends on the key type, model year, and whether any working key remains. Call or text with your vehicle details and we’ll give you a quote before any work begins.
