Depending on the vehicle, service can include all-keys-lost replacement, spare keys, key cutting, transponder and smart-key programming, flip-key and remote replacement, and ignition diagnostics. Common Hyundai requests include the Elantra, Sonata, Tucson, Santa Fe, Kona, Palisade, Accent, Venue, and Santa Cruz. Common Kia requests include the Optima and K5, Forte, Soul, Sportage, Sorento, Telluride, Seltos, Rio, and Carnival or Sedona.
Hyundai and Kia share many key systems, but similar-looking keys can contain different chips and are not always interchangeable. We confirm the correct key for your exact vehicle before cutting or programming.
Many Hyundai and Kia vehicles with a turn-key ignition use a flip key or a remote-head key with a transponder chip. Newer models with push-button start use a proximity smart key. Each type is cut and programmed differently.

Some Hyundai and Kia models with a traditional turn-key ignition were built without an engine immobilizer, which made them a frequent target for theft. If someone broke the steering column or ignition cylinder, the key may no longer turn, or the vehicle may not start at all.

When no working key remains, replacement may require the VIN, a key code, cutting, and programming the new key to the vehicle. If one key still works, adding a tested spare now is usually simpler than an all-keys-lost call later.
