What is the difference between IDS, FDRS and FJDS?

These are Ford software platforms with different vehicle and task coverage. IDS serves older applications, FDRS supports newer vehicle platforms, and FJDS provides J2534-based programming and diagnostic coverage. The correct platform depends on the vehicle and operation. Can you program a used Ford module?

Some used modules have compatibility or security limitations that prevent reuse. Call with the VIN and part number before purchasing a replacement. We assess whether the requested setup is supported.

Does a replacement Ford or Lincoln PCM need programming?
