This page documents a real Chicago Car Keys service request involving a lost smart key for a 2024 Toyota RAV4 in Justice, Illinois. Chicago Car Keys assisted with the vehicle-key situation through its mobile automotive locksmith service. Because smart-key hardware and programming procedures can vary by vehicle configuration, this example does not mean every RAV4 uses the same key, parts or process.
The documented Toyota RAV4 service request
The request involved a 2024 Toyota RAV4 with a lost smart key in Justice. Modern RAV4 models may use proximity-based keys that communicate with the vehicle’s immobilizer and push-button-start system. A replacement therefore involves more than cutting a traditional metal key: the replacement must be compatible with the vehicle and correctly registered to its security system.
Chicago Car Keys reviewed the vehicle information and key situation before providing service. Exact availability, compatibility and the required procedure depend on the vehicle’s configuration and whether another working key remains.
What affects a RAV4 smart-key replacement?
- The RAV4 model year and specific vehicle configuration
- Whether all keys are lost or a working key is still available
- The smart-key part number and hardware compatibility
- The vehicle’s immobilizer and programming requirements
- The vehicle’s location and current service availability
These details also affect the quote. Chicago Car Keys does not use one blanket price for every Toyota smart key because the parts and procedures are not identical across all vehicles. For the most useful estimate, provide the year, make, model, location and whether you still have a working key.
What to have ready when you call
Have your vehicle identification number (VIN), photo identification and proof of vehicle ownership or authorization available. Tell the locksmith where the vehicle is parked, whether it is accessible and whether any key still starts the vehicle. This information helps confirm the appropriate service options before dispatch.
